The Shameless Shuffle #005

In what can only be described as a miracle, I’m gettin the shameless shuffle off on Sunday for 2 weeks in a row and this one is a little all over the place. A soul jam from Usher, a metal banger from Disturbed, some Modest Mouse and Simon & Garfunkel and of course the man Frank Buick to round out a quite diverse lineup. Real surprised I didn’t pull any electronic music. Till next week!
When in doubt, its never a bad idea to throw on some Usher. Besides being a quintessential JAM, this 2004 single (I can’t believe it’s been this long) off his Confessions album spent 8 weeks on top of the Billboard Hot 100 and invaded every possible air wave for what felt like 8 months.

I knew it was only a matter of time before Disturbed came up on this. I was a huge fan of their awesome guitar work and honestly, who had a cooler voice or chin rings than David Draiman?

The official remix package for the Diplo produced Usher single Scream has come with some big names on the bill including Pierce Fulton, R3hab & Project 46. They all maintain a generally progressive feel although R3hab brings some serious energy to the mix while Pierce Fulton opts for a more stripped down delicate sound that grows into a full blown anthem. All three of these are primed for spots across the biggest clubs but you can just grab the downloads for your own personal ragers.

The original production from Diplo on Usher’s single Climax was nothing short of haunting. The remix from new Mad Decent signee Paper Diamond is just purely groovy gold. Keeping the general mellow mood of the original, the Colorado based producer twists in Ushers ghostly vocals around synth blips and a playful drum track for a great overall remix. Clinton Sparks steps away from the 90′s classics for a minute to offer his electro spin on Usher’s radio-crusher of a record Scream. I gotta say I love the low-key buildup that employs a very R&B feel before just exploding with gritty electro madness. Hats off to the Grammy award winning producer for having one of the best 64 bar outros out of a record I’ve heard in a while too, so be sure to give this one a full 5 minutes!

A set of releases have dropped in the last few days from Usher’s upcoming album “Looking 4 Myself”. We’re providing the set of 3 from that bundled release, two of which are produced by either Pharrell Williams or The Neptunes (the other from Drake’s right hand man “Noah “40″ Shebib”). The three all deliver a satisfactory effort, but we hope to see/hear better from the R&B crooner in the weeks leading up to the release.
