Stwo Drops An Edit of The Weeknd’s Or Nah [Free Download]

There have been few songs Stwo has dropped of late that haven’t been absolute JAMS and this is no exception. His edit of The Weeknd’s cover of Ty Dolla $ign’s collaboration with Wiz Khalifa & DJ Mustard sounds like you took the cute out of Cashmere Cat productions, instead capitalizing on the darker side of the sonic spectrum. Regardless of what or who it may sound like, this sounds like sweet music on my eardrums and I’m surely going to be listening to this on some serious speakers ASAP. Free download and assorted links below!

The Weeknd – Or Nah (Stwo Edit)

Featured Playlist: Drunk In Love

With Valentine’s Day having just passed us, it seems as though everyone and their mother decided to put their 2 cents into the smash hit that is Drunk In Love. From Kanye West and Diplo giving their own takes to the track’s producer Detail giving the track new life. There have been no shortage of edits of the iconic song including a complete overhaul by The Weeknd (which is my personal favorite).

The playlist also features remixes from T.I. who is still making his claim to remain King of the South as well as remixes from Future and some lesser known names such as DJ Jayhood providing a little Jersey Club edit as well. Be sure to flip through and let us know if we forgot any must have Drunk In Love remixes on our Twitter.

Ricky Hil – Nomads ft. The Weeknd

Ricky Hil - Nomads ft. The Weeknd

Ricky Hil, son of fashion mogul Tommy Hilfiger, lets loose a highly anticipated single from his upcoming LP, SYLDD (Support Your Local Drug Dealer) with assistance from The Weeknd. Still baffled by the fact that someone as clean cut as Tommy Hilfiger lets a son grow up to look like this (nothing against tattoos, just who’s sporting them). Check it out below.

The-Dream – AK47

After announcing the commercial re-release of his 2011 free LP, 1977, The-Dream now delivers one of the bonus tracks off the new version of the album. Say what you want about my boy Frank Ocean & The Weeknd, but their songwriting will always pale in comparison to Terius. “AK47″ isn’t as impressive as most of the songs on the free LP, but it’s still worth a listen. Enjoy.

The Weeknd – Twenty Eight (The SoniXx Remix)

The rework to this record by The Weeknd is simply incredible. Big shout out to The SoniXx for incorporating a sweet electro-dub feel to one of the strongest tracks off Trilogy. It wouldn’t hurt to spark something up prior to listening either.

Wiz Khalifa – Remember You ft. The Weeknd (Official Music Video)

We’ve come to expect a number of staples in a Wiz Khalifa visual – Bombay gin, copious amounts of weed, and a “turn up”-yelling cameo from Juicy J (more often than not) – but much like the music itself, his “Remember You” video is just different. The Ryan Hope-directed piece portrays the sexy, seductive, yet ultimately sinister underworld that damsels-in-distress find themselves lured into. Guest starring crooner, The Weeknd, doesn’t actually make an appearance in the clip, but his presence is undoubtedly felt throughout.

“Remember You” is available to purchase as a single on iTunes, and will be featured on Wiz Khalifa’s O.N.I.F.C. album, out Dec. 4.

The Weeknd – Enemy

You know that The Weeknd is releasing his first three mixtapes via Universal as Trilogy on November 13th, but the famously prolific R&B heartbreaker isn’t taking that as an excuse for taking it easy – on one the first of the bonus tracks that will be included on the album, “Enemy” he takes the chorus from the Smiths’ classic “Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want” and turns it on its head into an intensely seductive, minimalist, bedroom-eyed jam that stretches out into five salacious minutes of slow-burning piano and thudding bass. Check it out.

Wiz Khalifa – Remember You ft. The Weeknd

The major label-ization of The Weeknd continues today as the R&B impresario guests on Wiz Khalifa’s latest single, “Remember You”. Backed by a beat of wish-washy drum clatter and hazy guitar effects he surprisingly didn’t produce, Weeknd’s part sees him deliver his cockiest croon about his unquestionable bedroom prowess (“She’s about to earn some bragging rights/I’m ’bout to give it up like I’ve been holding back all night”).

“Remember You” is the second single off Khalifa’s sophomore LP, O.N.I.F.C., due out December 4th via Atlantic/Rostrum. Peep it below.

Ellie Goulding & Xaphoon Jones – High For This (PatrickReza Dubstep Remix)

It was only a matter of time before someone took the remix duties for this one but I don’t think anyone expected it this quickly! Well PatrickReza made no waste of time and concocted a perfectly chillled out wobbly masterpiece that he finished “last night from 3AM to 5AM”. Regardless of the time frame this one is awesome so be sure to add this one to your next playlist ASAP!

Ellie Goulding & Xaphoon Jones – High For This (The Weeknd Cover)

There’s nothing better than artist’s just making songs and putting them online and Ellie Goulding has teamed up with TNJ favorite Xaphoon Jones for a cover of The Weeknd’s High For This for free download through Ms. Goulding’s SoundCloud. With one of the most captivating voices out there right now, the British songstress lays down an unbelievable vocal performance over what can only be described as pure production perfection from the king of Pineapple St. It’s been a while since we’ve seen much release from either of these two so shouts to Neon Gold for the exclusive download and we can only hope this is a sign of more things to come!
