The Postal Service - Such Great Heights (Team Bayside High Bootleg)

I love when I find a song that is more than 5 minutes of some variation of a 16 bar loop. While I haven’t been a full blown follower of Team Bayside High, it was absolutely awesome to find this ambient yet powerful bootleg of The Poster Service’s classic song Such Great Heights. They let the iconinc blippy intro drone in the background while they infuse running arpeggios, frantic drums and cinematic ambience carry you off into catatonia. We’ll most certainly be keeping an eye out for these guys in the future so grab the free download and check all of the usual assortment of links below!

The Postal Service – A Tattered Line of String

The Postal Service - A Tattered Line of String

You know when people talk about innovators? The people that were beating on their craft pushing boundaries and all of that before that sound was renamed to popular. For electronic music, I can’t help but feel that The Postal Service and their first and only album Give Up can be given that distinction; the combination of Death Cab For Cutie’s vocalist Ben Gibbard and producer Jimmy Tamborello were making beautiful poppy synthy music since 2003 before “EDM” was even here. We knew we would be receiving new music after the announcement that they were reissuing Give Up on 4/9 to include 2 unreleased tracks (this being the first) and an arena tour. It features backup vocalist from the original album Jenny Lewis, who also sings on the reissue’s other song ‘Turn Around’. If you don’t know what these guys are all about, there’s a video that was uploaded of them doing a 40 minute live set after the jump!
