See What Life’s Like As EDM’s Golden Child with the Porter Robinson Language Tour Documentary

Porter Robinson: Facebook | Twitter | SoundCloud

Last April, Porter Robinson released one of the biggest tracks I’ve heard in my experience of listening to dance music with his single Language. From the soft keys and tantalizing vocals to the the unorthodox buildup and eventual powerful breakdown, I’ve had some of the best moments of my life with that song as the soundtrack. To support the single, Porter got on the road with The M Machine and eventual collaborative partner on the track Easy, Mat Zo for the Language Tour: a 30 show in 30 day road trip across the country. The Porter Robinson Language Tour Documentary chronicles Porter’s trip and really letting you get inside his head about topics such as family, his fans, his awesome tour crew and the inevitable super-stardom of his tour mates.

The M Machine – Metropolis Pt. II

The M Machine - Metropolis Pt. II

There’s nothing cooler to me personally than when artists try to push sonic barriers. Rather than creating the same sound or going after the same motif as everyone else, The M Machine has never settled for what is already in front of them. Their first album Metropolis Pt. 1 was an absolute game-changer for me and this album stands to do more of the same. The songs range all over the place like blistering, dark and gritty tracks like Moon Song to the aggressive and empowering Schadenfreude but no matter what there seems to be an element of noir to their songs. They really encapsulate a cinematic element available in electronic music and it works so well for their whole aesthetic. Metropolis Pt. II is a true evolution in sound from the San Fransisco based trio and represents yet another successful release out of Skrillex’s OWSLA label.

The M Machine – Schadenfreude

The M Machine - The Palace (Ft. Blake Hazard)

Yes… The name of the song Schadenfreude. I have no idea what that means, but who care its great. Another day another new release for The M Machine. Once again a song that is captivating, and different for electronic music. Great vocals, and a great beat. 4 out of the 6 songs on their upcoming EP have been put out on Soundcloud and youtube. Go take a listen and enjoy the weekend.

The M Machine – Moon Song

The M Machine - The Palace (Ft. Blake Hazard)

Another day, another new song from The M Machine’s upcoming EP. It’s a lot different then the other two songs released so far, which were “The Palace” and “Ghosts in the Machine.” This new song title “Moon Song” goes hard in its own way. The title is fitting. Probably is how you would feel if you ever had the chance to go to the moon. Its’ intro has a Deadmau5 like vibe. It then drops a couple different times with what sounds like a combination of them, Dog Blood, and Birdy Nam Nam. The drops are all really funky hard house that will make you want this song to never end. It’s also got a pretty trippy and trancy feel to it and every drop has a different style to it which is great. A hard song to describe that can only truly be understood by listening to it. Looks like The M Machine’s new EP Metropolis Pt 2 is shaping up to be something of epic proportions.

The M Machine – Ghosts In The Machine ft. pennybirdrabbit (World Premiere)

The M Machine - Ghosts In The Machine

Whether you are a fan of The M Machine or not, you have to respect them. Their versatility in producing music ceases to amaze me. A highly anticipated track off their upcoming EP, “Ghosts In The Machine” premiered today on Billboard’s soundcloud. It is much different then “The Palace” which premiered a week ago on UKF Dubstep’s Youtube channel. This song is nothing like dubstep in the slightest bit, but it is a masterpiece nonetheless. A wonderful and beautiful song that takes you on a journey, and makes you feel at that everything is alright for a brief moment. As you go on this ride it makes you reflect on life with it’s soft soothing trancy beat, and multitude of small sounds. Let’s not forget the soft hazy vocals that make this song complete. Regardless of the genre of music you like, you must listen to this song, you won’t regret it. Just click on the link right here and be ready to be amazed. Remember their Metropolis Pt. 2 EP comes out February 19th on Itunes.

The M Machine – The Palace (Ft. Blake Hazard)

The M Machine - The Palace (Ft. Blake Hazard)

Wednesday just got a whole lot better. UKF’s YouTube channel was the host of the world premeire of “The Palace“, a new single off The M Machine’s upcoming EP Metropolis Pt 2. The song starts off with a wonderful mesmerizing, trippy guitar filled intro, followed by the kind of trancey/airy vocals we’ve seen in songs from Metropolis Pt 1. The powerful and melodic drop shows how diverse they are as artists. They are able to make a type of dubstep i’ve never heard before; the song has M Machine written all over it. I’m sure this just a hint of what’s to come on Metropolis Pt 2, which is supposedly soley focused on the genre of dubstep. If your someone who doesn’t know the M Machine is this is definitely a song that will open the door for you into their world of incredibly unique, and extraordinary music. Be sure to get your hands on Metropolis Pt 2 when it’s released 2/19 on OWSLA.

Bruno Mars – Locked Out Of Heaven (The M Machine Remix)

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

I suffer the same form of resentment for Bruno Mars that I do for Katy Perry. Both of these artists have some serious pipes; hearing those pipes for the the 32098937298th time on the radio is enough to make me want to take a pipe to my head. For that reason, it’s always refreshing and welcomed by me to hear a song like Locked Out Of Heaven given a number of reworks and edits to keep it interesting. We gave you R3hab’s “afterhour” trap remix and today we have a beautiful and driving edit from The M Machine. The San Fransisco trio fill the track with powerful chords and ear-pleasing wobbles that really serve to accentuate the beautiful vocals.

The Shameless Shuffle #006

Yeah I know. I kinda slacked with this one for a while (to the tune of almost 3 months) but after a revisiting the mission statement of TNJ this weekend with my brother, I’m making a commitment to keeping up with The Shameless Shuffle. One of our goals here is to take the foot off the gas occasionally to appreciate the music we used to love; while the motto here is “new is always better”, sometimes there’s nothing better than discovering those lost iTunes gems. We got 5 tunes that go from classic Scarface hip-hop to the alternative stylings of AFI, Classic Tribe and The Killers to the grungy electronic sounds of The M Machine. For those of you wondering, Classic Tribe is a band from my home town that is no longer together but has some of the most complex guitar work and overall musicality that I’ve heard in a while.

Scarface – My Block

Classic Tribe – Little Boots

The M Machine – Glow (Original Mix)

The Killers – Mr. Brightside

AFI – Miss Murder

The M Machine – Metropolis Pt. I – Full Album Stream

San Fransisco trio The M Machine (Ben Swardlick, Eric Luttrell and Andy Coenen) are naturally shrouded in mystery. It’s not because they’re trying to be; they’re simply patient enough to put out work only after they’re 100% sure that their introduction to the world fires on all cylinders. Be assured, Metropolis Pt. I roars with the ferocity of a rocket engine that is surely to send this DJ trio into the stratosphere.

“The beautiful part of electronic music right now is that it’s literally infinite,” Coenen explains. “We write songs just like any other indie band or rock band would, but every instrument is powerful and big because it’s all electronic. You have the best of both worlds – the heaviness of dance music, but you then have the soul of vocal driven music.”

This release is absolutely unbelievable and I strongly suggest that everyone goes and supports the music and buys this one on iTunes.
