ThatNewJamFM 006: March Mix

Our weekly radio show ThatNewJamFM is back for its 6th episode and our monthly mix for March! One hour of jams, no talking, no filler, just 60 minutes of the best the month of March had to offer. With new bootlegs of Porter Robinson’s Sea of Voices, Eric Prydz progressive track Liberate that restored my faith in dance music, as well as What So Not & RL Grime’s collaboration Tell Me. Unfortunately for you guys I wasn’t able to get a hold of a microphone so you won’t be hearing my wonderful voice this week but be sure to hit up our various links below as usual and enjoy the mix!

RL Grime and What So Not Team Up For Massive Collab ‘Tell Me’ [Free Download]

When it comes to sound design and selection, there are leaders and there are followers. As it turns out What So Not and RL Grime both happen to fall under the former. Some producers are out there looking recreate sounds and synths used on already successful tracks while a whole other class of them take risks, think outside the box and look to innovate. The combination of Emoh Instead and Flume as What So Not and the multi-faceted producer that is RL Grime (who is also responsible for the production under the Clockwork moniker) has taken this track by storm and unleashed an absolute MONSTER. The track contains everything from big melodic builds to booming 808s and a brass band breakdown that all seems to work absolutely seamlessly. I can only imagine what kinda damage this does to dance floors in a live setting but I’m surely hoping to find out soon.

Clockwork – 30K Bootleg Pack

clockwork 30 k bootleg pack

Oh lord. Before I get going, as a ton of other publications are putting out year in review segments it has gotten me thinking of who I wanna recognize for their work this year. It is impossible to think of another artist that has a WOW factor as Henry Steinway. At 21 years old this kid was an NYU music industry student, was the youngest artist ever signed to Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak Records as Clockwork and then has a monster career working under the name RL Grime doing trap productions like the huge edit of Mercy that dominated sets all year.

I’m just getting the chance to dig into this bootleg pack now but from early looks, this appears to be as massive as Clockworks celebration of 15K Facebook fans. It feels like no time since he just released the last package and this one is just as huge. The track selection is perfect and the actual production is flawless…not that it should be surprising or anything. Usual assortment of links and download below!

RL Grime vs Big Sean – Oh Gawd (3LAU Mashtrap)

RL Grime vs Big Sean - Oh Gawd (3LAU Mashtrap)

I am finally done with finals. There has never been a more necessary time for a break and with that said, there is a TON of music I’m going to have to catch you guys up on. Although my night tonight will be spent celebrating and tomorrow I’ll be driving, I’ll do my best to get as much of what I missed out to you guys and maybe just do one post with a ton of SoundCloud links to save some time. That said, I was pleasantly surprised to see a brand new booty from 3LAU mashing up RL Grime’s huge Satisfaction remix with the vocals from Clique appropriately titled with Big Sean’s larger than life ad-libs.

BroBible’s White Girl Wasted Weekend Power Hour #006

Thank god for the weekend (which is beginning a day early as it should) because it’s been a damn long week people and what better way to welcome in the light at the end of the tunnel than with another installment of the White Girl Wasted Weekend Power Hour. Get the brew and shot glasses so that we can all get a little weird; this hour of music is gonna get the place moving! This week’s must-have nods go to TNJ newcomers KAM Royal & Rob Lo, the monstrosity of a trap release from RL Grime remixing Satisfaction and Jon Bellion’s newest single LIFE.

RL Grime – † HALLOWEEN MIX 2012 †

Who does it better than RL Grime/Clockwork depending on which name he chooses for the night? This dude absolutely throws DOWN mixing up some of my favorite tracks in the electronic incarnation of trap music and hip-hop game right now. The intro is pretty sweet and it moves right along dropping in some classic 50 Cent, Backseat Freestyle from Kendrick Lamar and his own original track Flood to wrap up a 33 minute set of filth. Happy Halloween!

Clockwork – 15K Bootleg Pack

Henry Steinway is probably one of the most amazing producers that I didn’t know nearly enough about. Not only did he contribute to my favorite Spectrum remix with A-Trak under his Clockwork moniker, he also holds the title of the youngest ever signee to Steve Aoki’s illustrious Dim Mak Records. His Facebook page reached 15,000 likes last night and as a thank you, we get a free pack of 15 of his exclusive live bootlegs for our own personal use!

The bootleg pack has highlights like Zedd’s Shotgun mixed with Busta Rhymes’ Touch It, Gorillaz’ Feel Good Inc and Hardwell’s club banger Spaceman, and Wolfgang Gartner’s brand new Nuke with the classic White Stripes anthem Seven Nation Army. By the way, you know that RL Grime guy that did the FILTHY trap remix of Mercy? That’s his side project. Yeah. He’s that good.

Kanye West – Mercy (RL Grime & Salva Remix)

This wacky, trapped-out, heavy-as-possible remix of Kanye West‘s “Mercy” has been stuck on replay for over a week. Salva and RL Grime teamed up to make a remix that you’ll be hearing everywhere all summer, guaranteed. I’d warn you to try to hold back to avoid getting tired of it, but I don’t know if that’s possible. Stop reading, start raving. For stream only right now. Enjoy!
