Writing these kind of posts always twists my gut a bit. On the one hand, it’s an interesting story full of twists and turns that offers plenty of entertainment value. On the other hand, writing about these twists is exactly what Ray J was hoping critics, fans, and bloggers would do in the face of the song’s release. Am I highlighting the industry’s faults or simply feeding its ever-present need for attention and willingness to do whatever it takes to get a name in print? Wiz Khalifa may be a new father, but he still has a rap career to take care of. Today, the Pittsburgh rapper drops a video for “Let It Go”, featuring Akon, the latest single from his O.N.I.F.C. album. Over sweeping, atmospheric production courtesy of Jo A and I.D. Labs, the Taylor Gang MC rhymes about achieving success despite any detractors along the way. However, the video’s treatment also features a pole athlete trying to get her life together, and cutting dead weight along the way.

It was only a matter of time before we were treated with the unveiling of the official video for Porter Robinson & Mat Zo’s monster crossover dance hit Easy. Turns out today was the day and we couldn’t be happier; the Japanese anime style video follows a girl on her escape from a smogged-ver industrial city to a beautiful cherry orchard that perfectly accentuate the feel-good vibe of the track.

Although nowhere near a rap game newcomer, Rochester born native Marsellis McGowan aka M.A.R.S. released his first official video as an artist under the name today, without a doubt marking the beginnings of beautiful relationship with the hip hop community. Speaking only of the truth using an impressive set of lyrical punch lines and jabs, “Hear Me” also serves as the first release off his upcoming project entitled The Double Bind, which is due out later this year. When I sat down at my computer I felt perfectly fine. After watching the official video for Dillon Francis’ monster single Bootleg Fireworks (Burning Up), I feel as though I’m coming off an acid trip; and that’s a damn good thing. Dillon decided to splice himself South Park style into some of music’s most iconic dance videos, sends his head flying through space and overall just kills life. I’m eternally grateful that you guys let me get up on this little soap box and tell you about good music. I’ll take this opportunity to tell you all that if you haven’t heard of Sam Lachow yet you are officially late to the party. We gave you his 5 Good Reasons EP as well as the video for Coyotes which is still one of my favorite songs right now. He’s an awesome videographer and his videos have gotten over a million plays on YouTube; needless to say this kids got serious talent.
