M1 (dead prez) – Genocide Highway ft. Nas

0

New ish from M1 of dead prez featuring Nas and “Beatnick & K-Salaam on the beat, on the hook, & on the scratch. History in the making”. The song was created as an ode to Denmark Vesey whom led a slave rebellion and was freed on Nov. 9th, 1799. Amazing stuff.

DJ Khaled – Hip-Hop ft. Nas, Scarface & DJ Premier [Prod by J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League]

This is an absolutely monstrous record from DJ Khaled. I held off putting up the version with Funk Master Flex’s unbelievably annoying tags all over it. Scarface and Nas put down absolutely classic-caliber verses surrounding their woman (hip-hop) although Nasir Jones is just absolutely out of his mind right now with the quality of his tracks. The production from J.U.S.T.C.E. League is second to none on big live instrumentation tracks (see Maybach Music Pt. 2) and provides the perfect soundscape for these two veteran MC’s to go to work. By the way, props to DJ Premier stickin to the turntables in 2012 and doing what’s gotten him to the top of the hip-hop music world.

With every passing release from “Life Is Good”, lingering doubts surrounding Nas’ ability to deliver a great album in 2012 are quickly being put to rest. Case in point, “Loco-motive”, the latest drop off the album and another sign that we’re going to get an invigorated Nasir Jones when “Life is Good” hits stores on July 17th.

Nas – Accident Murderers (remix) ft. Rick Ross and Ryan Leslie

0

We got the original version of “Accident Murderers” a few days ago, now R&B crooner turned emcee, Ryan Leslie, hops on the track to deliver the remix. R-Les went to his Twitter to dish out the remix, and until we get his Les Is More album, the tune should hold over a few fans. Leslie closes off the track with his verse, and you can stream/download the song below.

Nelly Furtado – Something ft. Nas (Prod. by Salaam Remi)

0

Canadian singer Nelly Furtado and wordsmith Nas joined forces for a collaborative track that will live on Furtadao forthcoming album The Spirit Indestructible. For the Salaam Remi produced cut Furtado enlisted the help of Nas to drop a quick verse and spice up the pop tune. Furtado, who has worked extensively with renowned producer Timbaland and also is an artist on his label Mosley Music Group, is no stranger to Remi’s hip-hop-influenced production.

Furtado’s upcoming album’s release date, which original was slated for June 19, has been pushed back to September 18 to accommodate both US and International promotion schedules through the summer. However, for now we can all be content with her latest offering and expect the release of her titular second single, “The Spirit Indestructible” to be released later this summer.

*Video*/Hip-Hop – Nas – Daughters

0

The accompanying video for Nas‘ heartfelt track “Daughters” serves as a fitting visual narrative of the veteran emcee’s detailed autobiographical ode to fatherhood. Captured from the viewpoint of Nas’ daughter Destiny, the video follows Nas’ daughter from birth, adolescence and the ever-turbulent and formative teenage years.

Watch the Chris Robinson directed video and mark your calendars for the release of Nas’ tenth album, Life Is Good due out July 17 via Def Jam.

Cocaine 80s – A Ketchup Post

0

The collective known as Cocaine 80s consisting of powerhouses such as No I.D., Common, Steve Wyreman, Rob Kinelski, Kevin Randolph, James Fauntleroy, Makeba and others has put out some of the most intricate and soulful hip-hop/R&B music that I’ve heard in a real long time. It’s the kinda stuff that could possibly hold a candle to J Dilla and Kanye while they were in their respective primes. For those of you who have never had the privilege of hearing these guys, here’s the Ketchup Post to make sure you’re filled in on all the major touchstones of their work.

Hip-Hop – Nas – Black Girl Lost Pt. 2

0

A few days ago, Nas brought the second part to his classic “Black Girl Lost.” The follow up, “Another Black Girl Lost (Black Girl Lost Pt. 2)”, takes a completely different approach from the original. While Hip-Hop purist will be livid, the younger generation may actually take to this Hit-Boy produced version better.

Nas’s tenth album, Life Is Good, is due out later this year. Listen to and download “Another Black Girl Lost (Black Girl Lost Pt. 2)” below.
