Party Next Door – PARTYNEXTDOOR (Full Mixtape)

With the “fallout” between The Weeknd and Drake occurring last year when The Weeknd signed with Universal Music Group and left OVO, Drizzy has kept his ear to the streets and discovered Party Next Door. Also hailing from Toronto, PND embodies much of the Toronto sound (especially r&b) with down-tempo rhythms and heavily EQ’d synths and drums. Let us know what you think and check it out below.

Kanye West – 2001 Demo Tape (Unreleased)

Kanye West - The Prerequisite

In a similar fashion to the Kendrick Lamar demo tape that surfaced, we now get a chance to listen to Kanye West’s demo tape dating back to 2001. After previously sharing both demo version of “All Falls Down” and “Bring Me Down”, fans of West can now hear the original versions of songs which ultimately found themselves landing on his debut album College Dropout, sophomore LP Late Registration, and various mixtapes. Compiled by the good folks that contribute to the KanyeToThe forums, you can grab the 15-track demo tape, currently being titled as The Prerequisite, by clicking below.

araabMUZIK – The Prince Is Coming

araabMUZIK - For Professional Use Only

See that picture above? Music fans had to know that at some point araabMUZIK would have to stop touring and making Under Armour ads with Cam Newton to focus on what thrust him into that pic in the first place: music. Thus drops “The Prince Is Coming”, which with its barebones introduction and heavy-handed bassline signals that, yes, araab’s back.

So no more false starts like Electronic Dream 2. And no more round-the-clock festival dates from Randall’s Island to Chicago – well maybe that’s premature to say. The prince is definitely coming, and so it appears is a new official tape, too. For Professional Use Only, araab’s next mixtape, drops on February 15.

Common - The Next Chapter (Still Love H.E.R.) ft. J. Period

J. Period is back at it again. The DJ/producer will release his forthcoming mixtape Rage Is Back mixtape on Feb. 12. He and Common join forces for the mixtape’s first single, “The Next Chapter (Still Love H.E.R.)”. Listen below. The J. Period produced track continues where Common’s ’94 “Resurrection” classic, “I Used To Love H.E.R” leaves off. Common recently stated:

“The Next Chapter (Still Love H.E.R.)” celebrates the latest episode in my lifelong lyrical love-affair with hip hop.

And that it does – be on the lookout for the mixtape. It’s sure to be a “true” hip hop project.

Casey Veggies – Life Changes (Full Mixtape)

Casey Veggies - Life Changes

There are some artists that bring their “A” game to every project and keep me on edge anticipating their new material. And then there are artists that never fully “wow” me, but I constantly give their new material listen after listen hoping for that breakthrough. Casey Veggies falls into the latter category, and with his new mixtape Life Changes I hope he finally replicates his contribution to one of my favorite songs of all time. With the bulk of the production handled by The Futuristiks and 1500 Or Nothing, and guest features from Dom Kennedy and the severely underrated BJ The Chicago Kid, he definitely has the musical partners in place to make a solid project. As a side note, new Harry Fraud beats are always welcome.
