ZHU – Faded (TÂCHES Remix)

There is no question that ZHU is just moments away from becoming an absolute superstar and his single ‘Faded’ has turned into somewhat of a cult classic. The vocals are absolutely perfect and that dark vibe has brought out a number of incredible remixes, most notably the ODESZA remix that I wrote about on NestHQ. Mind of a Genius, the label behind the music, has put together an incredible official remix EP with features from names like Lido, Amtrac, The Magician and Taches. A plucky guitar melody dances over the percussive bass groove and backing of jazzed up keys in this spectacular official remix from TÂCHES that is perfect for those dark after-hours kinda nights. Grab The Nightday EP and check out ZHU on Facebook and Twitter!

Help Find A Missing Girl From Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas

Help Find A Missing Girl From Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas

In what may be the only legitimate bit of good I can do as a blogger, I’m urging everyone to read and share this in hopes of helping find EDC Las Vegas attendant Veronica Delara. My heart truly goes out to those affected by this and I can only hope that this works out for the better. Las Vegas is absolutely no joke and although the festival went off mainly without issue, you really hate to hear of anything like a missing girl happening. Rave safe kids.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Missing Persons Details is asking for the public’s assistance in locating Veronica Delara.

Veronica was last seen at the Electric Daisy Carnival on Monday, June 24th 2013.

All area hospitals are to check their registries and to notify LVMPD if located. It should be noted that “HIPPA” permits disclosure to law enforcement upon request and is authorized persuant C.F.R. section 164.512.

Anyone with any information on the known whereabouts of Veronica Delara is strongly urged to contact LVMPD Missing Persons Details immediately.

Avicii & ABBA to Release Collaboration from Eurovision 2013 Intro Song

Avicii & ABBA to Release Collaboration from Eurovision 2013 Intro Song

This Avicii & ABBA collaboration is awesome for what it’s not: a festival tune. Sounding something like a graduation song meets a church hymn meets a broadway musical, the track served as the Eurovision 2013 intro song and is definitely a step in a…different… direction for Tim Bergling. It’s become apparent that he’s is looking to make more artistic waves than what was left behind from the pop/mainstream takeover of Levels (See: banjo + kazoo at Ultra for his single with Aloe Blacc) but this really does show an entirely different side of the Swedish producer. I can say that after this, I can safely say I have NO idea what to expect from his upcoming album TRUE; I can only hope that this was a one time experiment in production.

Fountains of Wayne - Stacy's Mom (Singularity x Robotic Pirate Monkey Remix)

A Stacy’s Mom remix has been necessary beyond a shadow of a doubt for a hell of a long time. Thankfully Singularity & Robotic Pirate Monkey have taken notice and provided a perfect edit to make the song perfectly DJ-set friendly. With no monster “drop” necessary, this brings us all back to the glory days of high school and the infectious summer song; thankfully being going to Tom & Marty’s all this time has kept this song from every fading away in the first place.

Dance Music Awards Show on the Horizon in 2014: Insomniac & Dick Clark Productions in ‘Special Announcement’

Dance Music Awards Show on the Horizon in 2014 Insomniac & Dick Clark Productions in 'Special Announcement'

Earlier today, at the Las Vegas-based EDMBiz conference, Insomniac Events (the people behind Electric Daisy Carnival) and Dick Clark Productions (the people behind the Golden Globes and American Music Awards) came together for a “special announcement” to unveil a partnership of the two production companies to bring a Dance Music Awards show to life in 2014.

“Creating an award show focused on all the creative components that contribute to the success of dance music (music, art, production and lighting) has been a dream of mine for years,” said Pasquale Rotella, Founder and CEO of Insomniac. “Partnering with dick clark productions was an easy decision given their experience producing the Golden Globes and the American Music Awards. I’m confident that our partnership will create an event that is focused on recognizing creativity without politics, and that it will celebrate all the elements that go into making dance music such a beautiful experience for the fans.”

This marks a huge development in the crossover of “EDM” into the mainstream now joining the ranks of every other major niche market to have their own award show (Country Music Awards, BET Awards, etc.). It doesn’t surprise me at all that Pasquale Rotella was able to make this announcement during EDC Week, the leadup to Electric Daisy Carnival: Las Vegas; I’m just curious to see which network decides to pick up the broadcast.

Alex Young – Mastermind

Alex Young - Mastermind

A couple months ago, we introduced you to Alex Young, the 16-year old boy wonder who is taking the EDM world by storm. Little has changed since then, as he’s still cranking out massive tunes, like Mastermind, a track that he just released earlier today. To classify the song within a genre would be unfair, as it’s a product of what would happen if festival trap and house decided to have a baby. However, one thing is certain, and it is that you’ll definitely be hearing this track dropped at festivals all over the country, this summer. You can catch Alex Young at EDC Las Vegas, in June, and can expect to hear more from him, as we delve deeper into summer.

Krewella – Alive (Hardwell Remix) [Pete Tong Radio 1 Premiere]

Krewella - Alive (Hardwell Remix) [Pete Tong Radio 1 Premiere]

Apparently, the pitched kick is here to stay. Pete Tong recently aired Hardwell’s remix of “Alive” by Krewella. The piano driven melody adds a light-hearted tone that lends itself very well to the lyrics from the original track, but the drop is very much typical of the current electro-house paradigm. This is sure to be a popular festival song amongst house DJ’s this summer, and perhaps the song will deliver more live than it will through laptop speakers, but I can’t help but be disappointed given the caliber of the remixing artist.

Clockwork – 50K Bootleg Pack

After a bit of a self-imposed sabbatical, I’m happy to be back posting you guys and as it always seems, there’s so much to catch you guys up on. To celebrate the Clockwork name earning 50,000 Facebook fans, he unleashed the 50K Bootleg Pack, a collection of bootlegs he saves for live shows that pit some of the biggest songs out right now together.

Daft Punk – Random Access Memories (Vanderway Edit)

Daft Punk - Random Access Memories (Vanderway Edit)

While I don’t 100% understand the craziness surrounding the latest Daft Punk, I understand and respect the fact that they are innovators and why news of a brand new album stirs up the kind of media frenzy that it has. Starting with an ambiguous 15 second ad run during Saturday Night Live a while ago with confirmed music from Random Access Memories. French artist Vanderway has reworded the commercial music into a full song complete with live vocals and enough funk to fill your needs for the day.
