Logic – Tim Westwood Freestyle
Newly signed Def Jam artist Logic just loops lyrical circles around listeners with this freestyle he did across the pond for the one and only Tim Westwood. The Maryland talent goes IN on Kendrick Lamar’s instrumental for Poetic Justice so skip to about a minute in and listen to a true talent of our time go to work. Not to mention that he goes 8 Mile acapella style for a minute and a half and says more than most artists can say in an entire album of material. Sweet Jon Bellion shoutout at the end as well.

Kendrick Lamar Freestyles on Hot 97 with Funk Flex
0There are two things I’d like to point out in this post. The first part is that Kendrick Lamar is on a WHOLE other level than everyone else. After coming back from his overseas tour, Kendrick Lamar stopped over at Hot 97 and threw down three ridiculous freestyles over Nas Is Like, Keep It Thoro by Prodigy and Ain’t Nuthin Ta Fuck With by Wu-Tang Clan; needless to say they are all lyrical clinics. The second part more has to do with Funk Flex. He may be the funniest person to listen to when he says stuff like “YEAH I’M TALKIN WITH THE IPHONE IN MY HAND!” Classic.

Raekwon – Who Shot Ya (Freestyle)
0Raekwon the Chef fulfilled the dreams of hip hop lovers throughout the world with a properly dished verse over The Notorious B.I.G.’s classic instrumental for “Who Shot Ya”. The freestyle should hold thirsting fans over, as the Wu Tang Clan rapper preps his forthcoming Lost Jewelry EP, that will be dropping in early 2013. Raekwon also has plans to design three custom bikes with Affinity Cycles that will be auctioned off, with the proceeds going towards Hurricane Sandy victims. And let’s not forget a possible Only Built 4 Cuban Linx… Part III sometime before 2014.

Gabriel Stark – GATSBY (Complete Free Album)
0
Through a mutual contact, I came across this young & talented artist by the name of Gabriel Stark earlier today and HAD to put him on blast. The Bronx native has garnered positive attention from some of music’s biggest blogs and has been covered in both XXL and Prefix Magazine. He spit a quick “Sucker Free” freestyle for MTV back in February which can be seen here. Below is his most recent album (his seventh already) which features some amazing music. Peep the record and be sure to follow on him via social media connections.

Eminem – Something From Nothing: The Art Of Rap (Clip)
0
Ice-T takes us on an intimate journey into the heart and soul of hip-hop with the legends of rap music. This performance documentary goes beyond the stardom and the bling, to explore what goes on inside the minds, and erupts from the lips, of the grandmasters of rap. Recognized as the godfather of Gangsta rap, Ice-T is granted unparalleled access to the personal lives of the masters of this artform that he credits for saving his life. Interspersed with the performer’s insightful, touching, and often funny revelations are classic raps, freestyle rhymes, and never before heard a cappellas straight from the mouths of the creators. What emerges is a better understanding of, and a tribute to, an original American art form that brought poetry to a new generation. Below is a clip of an Eminem bit in which he freestyles off the top of his head. Enjoy!
