Tek.Lun – Heart In Mind

Starting off with a Dilla-esque synth array behind a 4 to the floor beat, Tek.Lun’s track ‘Heart In Mind’ leaves you in a euphoric trance. However the true genius behind Tek.Lun’s track lies in the gradual progression of this track. Going from a groovy 4 to the floor beat to transform into what I can only describe as a crossover between Mr Carmack, J Dilla and 90s house. I would safely call this one of the most future beats I’ve heard all year. Definitely check out the rest of his Green Box EP and feel free to abuse that free download button on all his tracks. Tek.Lun is a jam master.

The Ketchup Post – Quiet Luke

I can safely say we have been following the path of Quiet Luke for some time, although way back when he was rapping under the name botTABOOm and had just decided to take an artistic hiatus. I had just started TNJ and really believed in him and wrote a review of the 18 year old’s project Sleep Well where you can download some of his older tracks like the Xaphoon Jones. It’s amazing how much the artistry of one person can change so much over the course of a couple formative years.

Quiet Luke – Humanoid ft. Zubair

Nowadays he’s working under the name Quiet Luke and has taken to producing all of his own tracks and doing everything from playing guitar to singing as well. You can check out an assortment of his tracks below and I’d love to know what you guys think. Hearing this newest material from the same guy that I loved so much has me nothing if not interested. Check out his newest track Moonrise off his upcoming EP The Romantic below which he gave out today for free download.

Epoch Rises Flips Kanye West’s Bound 2 On Its Head for a Big Bass Remix

Kanye West – Bound 2 (Epoch Rises [trap sauce] remix)

When I usually think about Bound 2, it’s usually more about the more melodic Charlie Wilson interludes in the song than the potentially more aggressive portions of the song. LA-based TNJ newcomer Epoch Rises takes the song and gives it a mean-muggin gritty makeover utilizing all sorts of grinding synths and big time 808’s. While it was certainly a wildly different vibe than I was anticipating, in the context of the right set, I can see this being a perfect weapon. Elaksi – Want You

How the hell a kid from Helsinki can make bass-heavy heaters like this is beyond me but as they say, music is universal. Elaksi’s latest single features big time 808’s lay the backbone for swirling pitched up samples that are perfectly chilled enough to be a certified jam. Check his assorted links below, hit the BUY button on the SoundCloud for the download and be sure to check this out on our FUTURE BASS PLAYLIST!

Steve Angello – KNAS (Dillon Francis Remix)

As we know, Dillon Francis will be releasing his collaboration with DJ Snake Get Low in one week’s time. To promo the track, Dillon Francis decided to release a free edit he made of the Steve Angello track KNAS which turns out to be a high energy trap influenced electro tune at 160 bpm. In his words:

Soooo i was making this mix for Triple J radio and as i got to the end of the mix I didnt know what else i wanted in it. i had been listening to KNAS a bunch because Steve Angello was on tour with us during big day out Australia soooo I decided to see if the track worked at 140bpm half time hip hop style shit….after messing with it a bunch i sped it up to 160bpm and basically turned it into this haha….. SOOOO IN HONOR OF MY NEW SINGLE W/ DJ SNAKE “GET LOW” THATS COMING OUT ON FEB 11th I GIVE YOU MY KNAS REMIX FOR FREE. THANKS FOR ALL THE LOVE AND SUPPORT I HOPE YOU DIG THIS TRACK AND BUY “GET LOW” WHEN IT COMES OUT

The Ketchup Post – Phazz

With TNJ getting back up on the horse I thought it might be appropriate to revisit some of our earlier features like The Ketchup Post to fill you guys in on an artist that I just recently heard for the first time myself. Get familiar with Adam Phazz, better known by his artist name as Phazz, a French producer who has a knack for R&B influenced production with textures and samples from all over the spectrum.

He’s got an entire project of originals titled the Marble EP and has reworks of icons like Cashmere Cat, Disclosure and one of my personal favorite tracks in Addiction by Ryan Leslie and Cassie. I really like that he’s looking to explore making contemporary music and not so much club music, I think electronic music is far too oftened pigeonholed into being party music. Follow his links below to get familiar and be sure to grab the free downloads where available!

Big Sean Dropped A Brand New ‘1st Quarter Freestyle’

There are few artists that consistently bring bars like Big Sean. It really doesn’t matter what flow or feel he’s going for, this man can SPIT and it’s lucky that Kanye took the time to listen to this kid spit outside a radio station in Detroit. Sean runs circles around a Key Wane & Travi$ Scott collaboratively produced beat and gave it out for free on his SoundCloud!

Tinashe – Vulnerable (Jacuzzi Remix)

Coming off his incredibly well received Mizu EP, Hawaiian producer Jacuzzi is still plugging away at full speed in the early parts of 2014. This brand new official remix for RCA artist Tinashe retains Ryan York’s signature future-bass textures with playful vocal chops and rolling 808’s. Go heart Jacuzzi on HypeM and check his assorted links below as we get ready for his collaborative release with Hawaii heatseaker Mr. Carmack.

Zedd – The Anthem (Lucky Date Remix)

I think it’s pretty safe to say I’m past my days of loving electro but that doesn’t mean I don’t like myself an absolute rave weapon like Lucky Date’s remix of the Zedd throwback track The Anthem. This is being given out for free by the label who released the original project over 3 years ago so this is definitely a cool opportunity to look back on what was hot that long ago. There’s some pretty awesome sound design on the first build and this has some crazy wobbles all throughout. Highlight is at 3:07 when it finally eases into that familiar chant from the original that borders on euphoric and then dives back into the gritty electro drop. Must have if you’re trying to get the room moving.
