Another late night, and another post that I’m so hyped for. This one may not be fresh-off-the-press for some of you who follow the genre’s every move, but it’s a must-listen for rap fans. For those who don’t know (essentially everyone reading this), Earl Sweatshirt is one of my favorite rappers out there. The smoothness with which he moves through bars is just hypnotizing, and his new track Chum is just a magnificent example. Not much to add-on at this point, but hopefully you find Earl’s ability to melt lines together as intriguing as I do. Take a listen and download the 320 below.

Besides the fact that I have no idea who Captain Murphy is (…although he does sound veryyy similar to Tyler, The Creator), there is nothing to not love about this song, from Flying Lotus’ velvet smooth electronic production to Earl Sweatshirt’s lyrical onslaught. It took me a little while to get on the Odd Future bandwagon but if this is any indication of the quality of work they do, I’m officially sold. After listening through the entire album Tuesday, not only did I find it done extremely well (with my personal favorite track being “Lost”), but it was full of some really tasteful collabs including John Mayer, André 3000 and OFWGKTA member Earl Sweatshirt. But what I was surprised to find out was that Tyler was not included among that list of features, until now. This track is going to be included on the bonus edition of the physical album once it hits stores (except Target) next week.

With reports running rampant this week surrounding Frank Ocean’s sexual orientation, the soon-to-be iconic figure’s (if I can say so myself) debut LP couldn’t have been released at a better/more controversial time. Def Jam’s original release date, slated for next Tuesday (July 17), was only hours ago suddenly bumped up a week. “channel ORANGE” hopefuls can now find the album on iTunes and enjoy an incredible body of work from one of music’s most important figures. I say important because of his imprint on pop culture and society, two words that (to some) neighbor each other in definition and are always in search of new figures of inspiration and brilliance. Two freebies are provided below because we love you, but we highly recommend you go out and support the music.
