Kendrick Lamar – Swimming Pools & The Recipe (Black Hippy Remixes)

1

As if the release of good kid, m.A.A.d city from Kendrick Lamar yesterday wasn’t enough, today we get remixes of two of the standout tracks from the rest of Black Hippy crew. Along with Kendrick, Jay Rock, Ab-Soul and Schoolboy Q are now becoming household names with their collective movement out of the West Coast and with good reason; their music is unlike much of anything we’ve heard before. For anyone wondering, I spent about 5 hours yesterday just listening through the full album and after I’ve given it time to sink in, I have to say it is one of the most amazing and complete albums I’ve heard in a real long time.

Kendrick Lamar – Compton ft. Dr. Dre

3

Ok I have to study for a Perception test tomorrow so I’m keeping this short. Kendrick Lamar leaks the first single from good kid, m.A.A.d city called Compton with the king himself Dr. Dre as a feature and if this isn’t a statement track, I don’t know what is. Production from Just Blaze. Good. Music. Period.

Dr. Dre Is No. 5 “Highest Paid Celebrity”

0

After a massive deal with HTC, Dr. Dre reaches the number 5 spot on Forbes’ “Highest Paid Celebrities” list.

Forbes released their annual “Highest Paid Celebrities” list and Aftermath Entertainment CEO, Dr. Dre, is the sole hip hop representative.

Dre is always amongst the highest paid men in hip hop with his producing credits and label ownership.  After selling his majority ownership of 51% of Beats By Dre headphones for over a whopping $300 million, Dre comes in at a more than respectable number 5 on the “Highest Paid Celebrities” list.  Thanks mostly in part to the over $110 million he cleared as part of his payout for selling his share in Beats with his deal with HTC.

The list predicts that Dr. Dre won’t be featured next year because the deal with HTC is what propelled him so high this year.  Oprah Winfrey, Michael Bay, Steven Spielberg, and Jerry Bruckheimer rounded out the Top 5 on this year’s list.

Tupac – California Love ft. Dr. Dre (Dash Berlin Rework)

0

Dutch producer Dash Berlin takes this Tupac and Dr. Dre classic and reworks it into a 2012 trance anthem! I’m honestly surprised that this worked as well as it did. Berlin takes Pac’s anthem-to-end-all-anthems and transforms it, layering those iconic vocals over some riveting and somehow completely fitting synths that are guaranteed to stir up a crowd during a live set. Oh, and the best part? Free download, holmes. Vocals kick in around 2:05. You’re welcome. Now let’s get this weekend started, shall we?

50 Cent – New Day ft. Dr. Dre and Alicia Keys (Full)

0

50 Cent takes Alicia Keys’ recent single “New Day” and makes it his own with help from two longtime collaborators. Serving as the lead single to his next major label LP, “Street King Immortal”, 50′s version includes a verse from Dr. Dre and was mixed by the one and only Eminem. Dre’s production is on point, but I’m unsure whether the idea of recycling an already successful single is the right move (it’s actually a little strange to see). Overall though, the record could potentially provide much needed positive momentum for the G-Unit general both commercially and statistically. After all, both 50 AND Jimmy Iovine proclaimed “Street King Immortal” will best the legendary “Get Rich Or Die Tryin’”.

Surprisingly enough, this isn’t Keys’ first time lending a vocal for virtually two versions of the same single - 2009′s “Empire State Of Mind” appeared on Jay-Z’s “The Blueprint 3″, then was released as a “broken down” version on Keys’ “The Element Of Freedom”. Peep the single below.

Rick Ross – 3 Kings ft. Jay-Z & Dr. Dre

0

I’ve never been a huge fan of Rick Ross (although that menacing UH will forever live in my heart) but this single from his upcoming album God Forgives, I Don’t has potential to be an absolute classic. Funk Master Flex premiered this collaboration between Rozay and industry immortals Jay-Z and Dr. Dre and the track still has the tags which we’ll try to update as soon as humanly possible but you gotta check this one out regardless! Deemed by the bawse as “the biggest collaboration in hip-hop”, I can’t find it in me to disagree as the heads of Roc Nation, Aftermath & MMG come together for this unbelievable record. God Forgives, I Don’t drops on July 31st, so keep an eye out here for any leaks and enjoy! UH!

UPDATE: WE FOUND THE FULL QUALITY VERSION! ENJOY!

*Video*/Hip-Hop – Dr. Dre – FULL Coachella Performance | Special Guests include: Eminem, 50 Cent, Wiz Khalifa, Kendrick Lamar, & many more…

0

It was already one of the most highly-anticipated performances of the Coachella festival this year. But Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre achieved the impossible last night as they brought back late rapper Tupac Shakur for their headline performance. Snoop was joined by a life-size hologram of Tupac who stunned the crowd of 75,000 fans when he appeared onstage.

The bare-chested Tupac – who was dressed in sagging jeans and Timberland boots circa 1995, just like ones he wore around the time he was shot dead on September 13, 1996, aged 25. And he greeted the roaring crowd saying:’ What’s up Coachella?’ - a festival that wasn’t even taking place at the time of his death – before joining Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre on hit single Hail Mary. Shakur also joined Snoop for songs Come With Me and Gangsta Party stalking around the stage in his trademark style.

Guests also included living hip-hop heavyweights like 50 Cent, Eminem, Wiz Khalifa, and many more. The performance lit up the Twitterverse for hours on end, garnering attention from celebrities and concert-goers alike. What do you think?! Cool or creepy? Peep the full performance in 2 parts below:
