J. Cole – Truly Yours EP

J. Cole - Yours Truly EP

J. Cole dropped this tape out of nowhere – and I don’t think anyone’s complaining. To be honest, it may be quite the opposite. Many Cole fans have been salivating at the mouth hoping for new material from the North Carolina rapper, and with Valentines Day approaching, maybe this release with a little bit of love. Entitled the Yours Truly EP, here’s what Cole had to say about it below:

It’s time. I appreciate you giving me the time I needed to grow, experiment, and find the direction for my 2nd album.. And I have. Along the way I’ve recorded at least 4 albums worth of material, lots of it being unfinished demo versions waiting to be polished up, some of them are great songs and important stories that just won’t make the album (either they don’t fit Sonically, don’t fit Theme, or there’s just not enough space) . Tonight, I want to give you a few of these songs because you deserve them. It’s hard as fuck for me to keep all this music from you for so long, so I know it’s been hard for you to wait. Thank you for your patience. Vibe out to these songs in their raw form, no polish.. just a lot of my soul.. The wait is over. Truly Yours, Born Sinner Truly Yours PS- 1st single coming this week. The album is hands down my best work yet. Can’t wait to share.

Casey Veggies – Life Changes (Full Mixtape)

Casey Veggies - Life Changes

There are some artists that bring their “A” game to every project and keep me on edge anticipating their new material. And then there are artists that never fully “wow” me, but I constantly give their new material listen after listen hoping for that breakthrough. Casey Veggies falls into the latter category, and with his new mixtape Life Changes I hope he finally replicates his contribution to one of my favorite songs of all time. With the bulk of the production handled by The Futuristiks and 1500 Or Nothing, and guest features from Dom Kennedy and the severely underrated BJ The Chicago Kid, he definitely has the musical partners in place to make a solid project. As a side note, new Harry Fraud beats are always welcome.

Ace Hood – Starvation 2 (Full Mixtape)

Ace Hood - Starvation 2 (Full Mixtape)

In the eyes of some, Ace Hood has made it. He is DJ Khaled’s protege, appeared on tracks with some of hip hop’s top figures, and has consistently churned out popular singles. Despite his success, the Florida MC displays his discontent and hunger for more with a new mixtape, titled Starvation 2. Listeners will notice that the album plays more like an album than a mixtape.

There are also whispers that he will drop a long awaited collaborative mixtape with Meek Mill, titled Same Dream. Time will only tell with that, but fans can see the artwork, stream, and download Ace Hood’s Starvation 2 below.

Jay-Z & 9th Wonder – Black American Gangster (Full Mixtape)

Jay-Z & 9th Wonder Black American Gangster

Considering Jay-Z is reportedly working on the score to The Great Gatsby, it might be a while before HOVA gets back to his solo grind. While it might not satisfy anyone looking for new tunes, producer 9th Wonder is doing the next best thing by dropping a full-album re-envisioning of 2007′s American Gangster via his Black American Gangster mixtape.

The spit-shined affair pits familiar verses from Jay-Z and guests like Lil Wayne and Nas with newly crafted beats sampling the likes of The Stylistics, Curtis Mayfield and more. You can check out and download the reworkings down below.

You may remember that 9th Wonder pulled a similar stunt in 2004, when he remixed Jigga’s The Black Album as Black Is Back.

Tyga – 187 (Full Mixtape)

Young Money’s most active emcee continues to keep the new music flowing. After only a short promotional period, Tyga dropped 187 for the world to hear. This release serves as the rapper’s final mixtape of 2012, and caps off what can only be described as a year of progress. He’s headlined two large scale tours, held the number one spot with “Rack City”, and likely released more than double the amount of music your favorite artist did (for free, no less). 187 features 8 new tracks, and should go a long way towards keeping fans satisfied until Hotel California arrives in March 2013. You can stream and download the mixtape below.

B.o.B went back to his roots with the release of his new mixtape titled Fuck Em We Ball. The Grand Hustle rapper helped build his name as a mixtape artist, dropping standout releases including Who The F#*k Is B.o.B? and Cloud 9. Last year, he unleashed E.P.I.C. (Every Play Is Crucial) as well, maintaining his buzz throughout the hip hop community. Check out FEWB below, it’s hot as hell.

Virgman – Back In The Day + On The Rocks EP

Putting up songs like this is what makes me excited about being in the position that I’m in now. A friend of mine hit me up a little while ago and told me that his boy from Syracuse just released a mixtape and that I should check it out. After letting it sit for a couple days I took a listen and I can honestly tell you I’m totally blown away. Everything about it from beat selection to production quality to lyrical content was absolutely on point so with great pleasure allow me to introduce you to Virgman and his debut video for Back In The day as well as his On The Rocks EP.

Sir Michael Rocks – Lap Of Lux

Today I’ve got a brand new mixtape from Sir Michael Rocks of The Cook Kids fame stacked 15 tracks thick of good material. This project definitely has a different feel than his prior work with Chuck Inglish but with standouts like the song Great with a feature from Casey Veggies & a fire verse from Mac Miller, it’s definitely worth a listen for those that love that trap hip-hop sound.
