It’s not that I didn’t believe Willy Joy when he told us in our exclusive interview to look out for Gent & Jawns. We’ve been following the DC duo’s climb since their monster remix of Diplo’s track Express Yourself but this mix just about sums up everything I’m about right now. Lots of moombah, a lot of the tracks have some sort of vocal, they found a way to weave in some trap and kept the energy high the whole time. I’m not exaggerating when I say that I knew/wanted almost 95% of the tracks on here and the way that they’ve perfectly strung them together for this Diplo & Friends set puts them at the top of my list of most wanted to see.

We got the first official release from SAV (formerly of Sazon Booya) in his collaboration with up and coming producer Happy Colors. I gotta say my personal favorite is the toned-down controlled chaos of Pow Pow while the latin flare of Calle Luna Calle Boom is a sure fire dance floor destroyer.
There were a lot of remaining ideas I wanted to flesh out with Sazon Booya. Happy Colors is an up and coming producer who helped materialize a lot of unfinished ideas. Big ups to him for collaborating with me on this project! Special thanks for the fans as well! Without their words of encouragement and support this EP wouldn’t exist.

I had to know that sooner or later I’d have to eat my latest words regarding Dillon Francis on his latest song Messages; I didn’t think it would be less than a week later though. He absolutely MURDERED this remix of the Passion Pit single Carried Away with his signature happy melodies and some great vocal chops. The breakdown uses an awesome acid house synth that I haven’t heard him use (but is similar to the one that Clockwork has been using lately) and it comes with good reason that Dillon Francis even said himself that this is one of his favorite remixes he’s ever done next to his officially commissioned Suit & Tie remix. I want to be genuinely upset that I just realized I have let a Dillon Francis post sit in my draft pile for this long but to be honest this one isn’t my favorite. It’s not that Dillon Francis isn’t making great music still; as a matter of fact his Suit & Tie remix was so good Justin Timberlake commissioned it as an official remix. There are simply no tracks that will ever have the impact on me that those first couple of tracks from his Westside EP & Kill The Noise collab Dill The Noise had on me. That said, this newest track sounds very similar to Control Freak to me…take it for what it’s worth. I will say that this Prince Fox trap remix absolutely knocks definitely hit buy on his player to grab the free download.

With the upcoming Major Lazer album pushed back from it’s already-delayed release date of February 26th to the dreaded indefinite date, the guys were nice enough to give out the first of three free mixtapes just last week. Today they put out the first sample of the album proving why they’re still king of the dancehall with this MOOOMBAHH jam. The Diplo fronted project is currently embarking on a world tour so we can only hope that the album gets finished on the road!
