Throwback
Dirty Vegas – Days Go By
0We are interrupting your regularly scheduled NYE programming for this throwback that has been stuck in my head for the last 2 days thanks to the Saulsky brothers of Synchronice. If you don’t remember the original Dirty Vegas track from either the Mitsubishi Eclipse commercials way back or possibly the worlds greatest music video with the breakdancer, please educate yourself below before proceeding. This was all spun into motion when Synchronice uploaded an acoustic cover of the song that they did while bored and snowed in this past weekend and you can check that below the video.

Pretty Lights vs. The End Of The World 2012
0Sometimes the talents of Derek Vincent Smith aka Pretty Lights just flat out astound me. One of his most appealing characteristics to me is his appreciation of not only what is good about new music, but keeping his roots with him and infusing his sounds with those that were big in the past. Placing Black Sabbath over his own drum tracks, adding in lyrics from The Doors and R.E.M.’s end of the world anthem, and then a hip-hop verse just goes to show that his work is truly innovative and expansive. Good on ya man, TNJ loves what comes out of the speakers when the Pretty Lights name is attached.

A Kanye West Throwback Post
0On this cold Sunday in November, I felt the urge to dig through the iTunes library and pull out his Freshman Adjustment Volume 3 tape that dropped way back in 2007. On it are some “classic” Kanye beats and lyrics including the two I’m providing below. Consume and enjoy.

XV – Awesome

Spotify is truly an amazing platform. Came across this gem from XV’s 2009 mixtape Everybody’s Nobody hosted by DJ Enuff and DJ Benzi. Record has an old school Kanye-esque feel to it. Definitely bumping this one again this week.

Kanye West – Heartless (Aaron Bond Remix)
0
Just came across this dope Aaron Bond remix to Ye’s 808′s & Heartbreak record “Heartless” this morning from one of my old DJ set lists. The reason Bond’s take did so well was because of the filtered syncopated drum rhythm that lead you to believe the song was at a much faster tempo than it actually was, allowing for a great mid-set dance track. Enjoy!

Alexisonfire – To A Friend (Adventure Club Remix)

I’m honestly not sure that anyone is skyrocketing up my list of favorite producers quite like Adventure Club has been lately. The Canadian dubstep duo take on my favorite song from fellow Candians Alexisonfire with just ridiculous results. I used to have this song blasting at all the time and their signature brand of melodic dubstep couldn’t fit better to accentuate Dallas Green’s haunting vocals. Instantly download this one which they gave away for free on their Facebook page without any reserves, 100% satisfaction guaranteed here.

The Jane Doze – Bullshittin On My Coffee Break
0
I’m not saying this is new by any stretch of the imagination but after stumbling upon this a couple weeks ago, I haven’t been able to get this one out of my head. Big Sean’s verses sit perfectly in the glitchy, sample-driven soundscape of the Zeds Dead production so big ups to The Jane Doze to recognize that. You may recognize these ladies special touch as seen on their marriage of Language & Call Me Maybe…one of the most unlikely combinations you could ever find.

Marcy Playground – Sex and Candy (Papa Skunk Remix)
0
I’ve never heard of Papa Skunk before today but after I stumbled on the remix of this Marcy Playground track sitting on Facebook, I’m gonna be doin some serious digging. This one’s got waves of full bassy goodness with some candy coated vocals that are perfect for just vibing out to. There is so much good music coming out of Colorado as of late and you can add Papa Skunk to the growing list of amazing producers to explode from there. Grab the free download and enjoy!

D12 – How Come
0
As one of 2004′s biggest hip hop hits, “How Come” embodies all that worked well between the members of Detroit-based supergroup D12. The lyrics are poignant and talk about how ‘beef’s’ occur through very little reason and escalate to create hostility, even when one has shared good times together; The music is broody with piano and sting quartet samples. Everything simply works in this song – get it on your iTunes now and enjoy!
