Queens, NY native and up and coming talent Ron Gerald just released his latest free mixtape entitled Ron Gerald Volume 2 via Tumblr and Soundcloud (which you can find below). The r&b crooners tenor voice shows great improvement from previous projects, enabling him to better maneuver around the well-crafted instrumentals he also produced. Be on the lookout for future projects from Gerald and his In Your Face Records team. Peep the tape and make sure to support him via his slew of social media networks.
First off Happy Easter to those who celebrate, enjoy hunting for eggs and shit. Secondly I haven’t made a post in a while so here are 10 phenomenal tracks from big names such as M Machine, Dzeko & Torres, Lucky Date, Cedric Gervais & Borgore. Go ahead and add these bad boys to your iTunes, enjoy.
I’ll be 100% honest I have NO idea who Christoph Andersson is although a spot playing at this years Buku Music & Arts Festival is impressive; this remix was brought to my attention from G-Eazy’s SoundCloud and I’ve happened to fall in love with it. Using a lot of ambiance, he crafts a really open soundscape that serve to drive home the emotion that G-Eazy brought to the original (which you can listen to here). The download is free and all the usual links are below so click around and enjoy!
Don’t think for a second that I’ve ever doubted Clinton Sparks’ ability behind the decks. This latest Miami Mix edition of his My Awesome Mixtape series is something else; he tears through a track list that the most hardcore of club music fans would appreciate and it is mixed to the standard that an Ibizia crowd would praise. This mix conveniently serves as an additional moment to announce that the man behind the music is our Artist of the Month for April so get ready for another exclusive interview from Boston’s boy in the coming days. We’ll discuss his beginnings and roots in Boston’s music, his recent love from some HUGE labels and a single in the works with two of hip-hops heavyweights…I’m not sayin…I’m just sayin. Let this one carry you out on your Saturday night and enjoy!
Mac Miller creating his Larry Fisherman production alter ego on SoundCloud was the best thing to happen to my stream in a while. He’s not the guy that’s locking the music away until a major release, he made an entire tape of noise called Run On Sentences Vol. 1 with recent favorites of mine like his track Avocado that really showcase his abstract ear for sound. It makes sense then that he should link up with Top Dawg Entertainment man Ab-Soul and Young Money artist Short Dawg for this wavvy single.

Tyler The Creator’s album Wolf recently leaked. So what did he do? Put the entire thing up on his soundcloud for free streaming. I haven’t had the chance to listen yet, but I couldn’t leave this untouched. Below is the complete album, which hopefully gets you guys excited as it gets me. Back with a full review later on tonight!
Before I even got a chance to listen to the song, I happened to scroll through the comments on this video and there seemed to be a resounding push back from the YouTube crowd on this one. Although I gasped at first (how could my first hardcore fanboy duo do ANYTHING wrong), after giving this a couple of listens I can understand where the criticism is coming from. If you’re expecting a genre-bending mindblowing Xaphoon Jones produced track a la The Swelly Express look elsewhere. With production from mashup aficionados The Hood Internet, they employ that 2002 autotune that no one missed on Chiddy’s vocals (that are entirely too quiet); in short, this one is a bit off the mark for me. Keep in mind that “a bit off the mark” for Chiddy Bang is still better than 99.999% of the other stuff that’s floating around the internet so keep it here for a full download and video in the coming days!
Chiddy Bang x The Hood Internet – Friday (On My Way)
I don’t think it’s a coincidence that artists like Flosstradamus drop a brand new track off the day of a show at a huge venue like Webster Hall. In anticipation of their appearance there tonight, the boys dropped off a freebie that they did with DJ Sliink which we can’t wait to see live (check the event preview for the show here). With huge highs, booming lows and enough 808′s to thoroughly rattle your skull, this is all the makings of a certified trunk-knocker. Their NOMADS release will be out on Fools Gold this coming Tuesday 4/2!
Around 3 or 4 months ago, while I was exploring the vast abyss of music, that is Soundcloud, I came across a rapper out of London, going by the name Dvnny Seth (Pronounced “Danny Seth”). I was pleasantly surprised by his single, “£££,”, immediately downloaded his entire first mixtape, PRESPLIFFS VOL. I, and proceeded to eagerly listen to every song up on his Soundcloud page. I couldn’t put a finger on exactly what it was, but I was absolutely positive that I liked what I was hearing. Fast-forward several months, and Dvnny Seth has released another strong mixtape, PRESPLIFFS VOL. II, and is now on the radar of big name artists, such as Pharrell Williams.
£££ – Dvnny Seth
Seth’s British accent really accentuates the combination of his clever, yet meaningful verses and unique, polished flow, all of which set him apart in an already crowded hip-hop/rap scene. His tracks, often backed by heavy trap beats, frequently portray stories from throughout his life, and give off a very chill, relaxed vibe, making his music appropriate for many occasions. These factors, along with the fact that he has a distinct, A$AP Rocky-esque sense of style, made for the big-screen, give me the feeling that Dvnny Seth is poised to blow up very soon. Look for 2013 to be a very big year for the 22 year old, as he is set to release SHEETS: PACK 1 and PRESPLIFFS VOL.III later in the year…And, when Dvnny Seth becomes a household name, remember TNJ told you first!
I could literally give you a Ketchup Post on all of the fake Daft Punk leaks and *BREAKING NEWS DAFT PUNK SIGHTED* garbage that I’ve chosen not to post for you guys. It’s not that I don’t think that these guys are deserving of a ton of hype surrounding their upcoming return album Random Access Memories (feel free to pre-order it here); I just don’t know if the absolutely ZEALOUS media frenzy is entirely necessary. Consider that the last “leak” from the guys ended up being a .zip folder filled with 12 copies of Levels so you’re welcome for not posting that. That said, a handful of producers have chosen to go back and revisit their earlier hits and breathe new life into them such as this electro edit from Tim Gunter. The iconic vocal line is accentuated from melodic but glitchy chord bursts that is an ensured dancefloor destroyer!
