Passion Pit – Constant Conversation (Remix) ft. Juicy J

Passion Pit - Constant Conversation (Remix) ft. Juicy J

I’m really not sure how no one else thought of this one before. If you are the sort of person that fails to pigeonhole everything into genres, you would hear more than just a whimsical/melancholic indie track when you first heard Constant Conversation from Passion Pit off their latest album Goassamer. The track serves as a real mellow hip-hop production and the forward thinking Boston boys called on Juicy J to lend a verse that couldn’t be smoother.

Skrillex – Summit (SPAVEECH & CHANGE Bootleg)

Skrillex - Summit (SPAVEECH & CHANGE Bootleg)

It is a small world out there on the internet. A couple of weeks ago we received a submission from upcoming producer SPAVEECH and although we liked his trapped out remix of Rock The House, it got lost in the shuffle and unfortunately never got a post. Fast forward to today and CHANGE., one of my favorite artists to look out for on my SoundCloud just released a bootleg using the aforementioned SPAVEECH’s remix of Summit. The original Skrillex tune was one of my favorites and has been remixed by everyone and their mother including Krewella & Aylen; needless to say it has to be something special to get my attention. They intertwine Sonny’s haunting vocals with layers of synths and flawlessly build the track into a frenzied electro drop that I would expect out of an earlier Porter Robinson production.

Chris Webby – And The Beat Goes On

Chris Webby - And The Beat Goes On

Brand new song from Chris Webby that dropped out of nowhere! Sick beat and hook though, thanks to the producer Dan Zavaro. One of the best Webby songs I’ve heard in a while. Earlier this month, Chris was a judge on 106 & Park’s Freestyle Friday, and it was awesome to see him on a major network as a celebrity judge, getting the recognition he deserves. Hopefully Chris has a huge album or mixtape ready to come out this year – I have a good feeling about him. Grab the download below for this track.

Fyfe – Solace

fyfe

Fyfe is a bit of a magical mystery musician. What we do know about him is that he is a mere 23 years old and hails from London – and oh yes, he has turned out quite the dreamy track – ‘Solace.’

Upon first listen, my ears perked up to identify vocals that resemble Two Door Cinema Clubs lead singer Alex Trimble, and an impressionistic intro that reminded me of a mix of Fool on the Hill and Strawberry Fields off of the Beatles Magical Mystery Tour album.

The song takes you into a dream world full of low-key guitar riffs, entrancing vocals and mesmerizing lyrics. The singer talks about the difficulties that define life, but does so in a way you can’t help but define as beautiful. After one listen I find myself repeating the chorus, ‘I will lay my head down, ‘till some sense has been found.” The talented musicians EP will be released April 7th.

Avicii – X You

Avicii-X-You

This is more a post of news-worthiness than anything else because although most progressive house kinda sounds the same to me, it’s worth a post when Avicii combines samples submitted from over 4000 people from 140 different countries. He partnered up with Ericsson to crowd source a hit song and took winning samples from Kian Seng (melody), Naxsy (bassline), Martin Kupilas (beat & rhythm), ВАНЯ ХАКСИ (break) and Christian Westphalen, Mateusz Kolata & Jonathan Madray (effects)to construct this song. Although this only adds to the fact that this guy is just a walking talking gimmick with sponsorship deals with Ralph Polo Lauren and having his own hotel to rent out for WMC. Grab the track on iTunes if you like and check the video below!

Event Preview: Zedd w/ Alex Metric and Tommie Sunshine @ Webster Hall

Zedd

First off, happy Wednesday to all the readers who make this blog a blast to write for! Secondly, we got somethin’ big to inform you guys about! The one and only Zedd will be headlining a show both tomorrow (18+) and Friday (19+) at Webster Hall in NYC. Not that he needs much of an introduction, but in the last year or so, Zedd has taken the EDM scene and flipped it on its head. After the unfortunate cancellation of his tour with Lady Gaga (who has a hip injury that restricts her from performing), Zedd is continuing about the country to hit some of the biggest venues with some of his biggest tracks. If you’re still yet to hear his full-length EP Clarity, I’d strongly advise you to do so. Although we give it much praise here at TNJ, allow the amount of charts it’s topped and accolades it’s received to speak for us.

Opening up for the big-man will be both British powerhouse Alex Metric and long-time mainstay Tommie Sunshine. Despite both having their own styles, explaining what you should be expecting from these two might best be done as a tandem. Both Tommie Sunshine and Alex Metric are masters at keeping your feet moving, with club-destroying tracks like Metric’s Rave Weapon (posted below) or Tommie Sunshine’s Barbarians. But despite a huge arsenal of bangers, it wouldn’t be surprising to hear either one bust out some tracks with an old-school influence, especially Tommie Sunshine. If you’re headed to Webster tomorrow or Friday, the best thing to expect from these two would be the unexpected!

Tickets to both nights are currently sold out, but for the hopefuls out there who are still trying to snag a ticket somehow, here’s the link. There are still VIP table availability for Friday which you can check here and keep your eyes peeled for the #Cryptix Instagram contest where you can find a flyer somewhere in NYC through Webster Hall’s image clues that will win you a pair of tickets to the Friday show. If you plan on being there, tweet at @thatnewjam or post on our Facebook to let us know!

Today he released his latest synth-drenched disco remix of A Tribe Called Quest and it holds to the quality you’ve come to expect. This is just another reason why you should hop on this guy’s bandwagon before you’re too late following his huge remix of Viceroy’s original tune Dream Of Bombay. usual links below!

Another Brick In The Wall (Koyote Bootleg) Pink Floyd, Jason Risk, Eric Prydz

It should be very apparent by now that I’m not a huge mashup fan…at all. When done right, there’s nothing better for your sets; this mashup of Pink Floyd, Jason Risk and Eric Prydz is a certified dance floor breaker. When your teetering on that line of familiar, interesting and face-melting you kinda know you got something good going. We’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for Koyote and definitely a good pickup by the guys over at FITA so grab the free download and enjoy!
