There’s nothing better than artist’s just making songs and putting them online and Ellie Goulding has teamed up with TNJ favorite Xaphoon Jones for a cover of The Weeknd’s High For This for free download through Ms. Goulding’s SoundCloud. With one of the most captivating voices out there right now, the British songstress lays down an unbelievable vocal performance over what can only be described as pure production perfection from the king of Pineapple St. It’s been a while since we’ve seen much release from either of these two so shouts to Neon Gold for the exclusive download and we can only hope this is a sign of more things to come!

This is a bit of an unorthodox post for me but the point of this post is to introduce a genre more than any particular song in general. Trap is an emerging genre of EDM that is the marraige of hip-hop elements with a familiar EDM track. Two of the most varied examples I could find were the remixes of The Veldt by an artist called Drankenstien or Bird Peterson according to his Facebook and Bingo Players‘ Rattle by an artist named Luminox. There’s a ton of variety within the genre and I’m a huge fan of the Rattle remix so get used to seeing more of these kinda tracks in the future!

“No Church In The Wild” continues the trend of outside-the-box music videos for Kanye West. And although this one isn’t exactly abstract, it still aims to story tell and depict an environment rather than stunt and be flashy. I support Kanye in his artistic maturation/exploration. I think it’s important for culture and society (as I think he knows that and accepts the role in challenging the creative limits of others in this ever expanding world). Oh yea, Jay-Z’s verse was tight too.

With the rock superstar’s vocals finding a cozy home over the bouncy and building house sythns from Bergling, it’s easy to see why you’re going to be hearing a lot of this track in the coming months. Amateur hour artwork aside, “Superlove” is a must have.

With the EP 1991 already available in the UK, it only seems fair that something is done to provide it to ALL of our viewers. The EP displays a well executed blend of body shaking dance production and swagger driven lyricism. The marriage of hip hop and dance music has become the young Harlem artists’ claim to fame and signature calling card as she continues to bridge the gap with positive results.
Azealia, who turns 21 this week, is set to drop her highly anticipated mixtape entitled Fantastic on none other than Uncle Sam’s birthday (July 4th). In our opinion, her music (and music like it) is worth supporting as genres continue to evolve and lines begin to grey.

I was pretty sure of my standing that no one other than Cudi the Kid could ever remix The Funeral until I happened to stumble upon this little gem from Sound Remedy.
